Jumping Numbers

              Action Jackson is full of action tonight! He is jumping over everything including the dog! So instead of him landing on the dog and getting bit I made jumping pieces. Construction paper taped to the ground with numbers. Every jump over the paper he has to tell me the number! We did numbers 1-10!

What you need:

• Construction paper/ Craft paper
• Pen/ Sharpie
• Tape

Step 1:

Take your paper and fold it length ways fold it 4 ways.

Step 2:

Write your numbers on your craft paper. You could do the alphabet too, but that is a lot of paper. I would hope you have a long  hallway.

Step 3:

Tape down your numbers. I didn’t measure because I have tile floors and I just well kinda went with it! .

Bottle Cap friends

My family and I the past few weekends have been going to our friends house to swim. Last weekend we were sitting around and Jack found 2 bottle caps and put them together like they were a mouth. What kid doesn’t do that? Heck, I am almost 28 years old and I STILL do that! But seeing a 3 year old do that got my creative juices running and here is what we did.

What you need:

•   Bottle caps (at least 2 per friend)
•   Small piece of ribbon (we used red for a tongue)
•   1 medium sized pom-pom
•  2 google eyes ( more or less depending on what you want your friend to look like)
•   Spray paint
•    Hot glue

Step 1:

Spray paint your bottle caps what ever color you want. If they are already plain no biggie. I just didn’t want my son’s friend to be a corona bottle cap.

(I LOVE this color, I even used it to spray paint my hanging flower pots) 

Step 2: 

Get your pom-pom and your small google eyes ( or which ever size you have or want) and hot glue the eyes on the pom-pom.

Step 3:

Cut your small piece of ribbon on the end to make a V, just like a snake tongue.  This step is optional if you don’t want your friend to have a tongue.

Step 4:

Once your bottle caps are dry, place your ribbon on the bottom of one cap so it is hanging out just a little bit.

 

Step 5:

Hot glue the other bottle cap into the one with the ribbon.

 

 

 

Now you can have friends in all sorts of colors and make them with different faces. Enjoy!

Rocket Man!!!

I have seen this all over Pinterest for months thanks to Do It and How . I believe she is the originator, if not I apologize. But I went off of her design.

I don’t know of any Superhero that has a jet pack, but Jackson has decided to be Iron Man and Captain America today all while wearing the jet pack. I guess it makes him fly even faster?

What you need:

• 2 empty 2 liters bottles
• gray spray paint
• elastic
• cardboard
• hot glue
• Red and Yellow tissue paper
• Aluminum foil
• tape

Step 1:   

Spray paint your bottles and let dry. Good thing I painted my bottles almost 2 months ago and just never touched them. Some bottles have different textures than others. If you can get two of the same brand and kind it would be nice.

Step 2:

Cut your “flames” out of tissue paper. You can also use felt or just about anything else.

After I cut the flames out, I taped the tops together.

Step 3:

Enter your flames into the the opening of the soda bottles. Hot glue on the tape part so that it doesn’t destroy the tissue.

Step 4:

Get your cardboard (around 10.5 inches wide)

Wrap your aluminum foil around your cardboard and tape the seams.

Step 5: 

Make your straps. Our straps were 12.5 inches long.

Attach the elastic to the back of the cardboard using hot glue.

Step 6:

Attach your soda bottles with hot glue on the back. Be careful not to use to much and melt the bottles.  Fill in the sides with hot glue.

Step 7: 

BLAST OFF!!!! 

Make some noise!

With Independence Day right around the corner, Jackson and I decided to make some noise makers today. Our neighborhood does a huge block party that day and an amazing firework display at night. For a HOA funded firework display this thing is better than some city firework shows I have seen.  This year we will be taking our wagon and walking to the lake so little man has something to sit on while we wait for the fireworks. But why not have some noise makers to keep him entertained as well on the 10 minute walk? OOoo.. this reminds me, we can do something to decorate the wagon too =)

Anyways, I went into my craft room (that is in huge need of organization) and tried to find things that I already had. What I found was: construction paper, bells, pipe cleaner, popsicle sticks, and tape. 

I had no idea what I was going to be doing before starting this. It just kinda happened and Jack could help in every step along the way. Well not cutting the stars. But he did help cut pipe cleaners.

Step 1:

Take your pipe cleaners and cut them to about 2- 2.5 inches long. At one end of the pipe cleaners tie on one of the jingle bells.

Don’t let your son steal your jingle bells. He will put up a playful fight to keep them 😉 And even lick them so you don’t want them back… hhaah

Step 2: 

Draw and cut out your star shapes.  I didn’t measure or anything. I just drew stars large enough to fit over the popsicle sticks. There are two stars so that it makes a pocket to slide over the top of the sticks.  I taped 2 sides together at this point to keep them together.

Step 3:

Tape your pipe cleaners to the top front side of the sticks.

Step 4: 

Slide your star on top of your stick. Tape the star to the stick as well as tape the rest of the sides together to have it closed.

Make some noise!!!

Dinosaur Stomp!

I really should have written this post a while ago since the pictures have been on my phone for almost 2 months now. I have been slacking I know. I really thought I would be updating this more and keeping up with my Project 52 a lot more than I am. I thought I could do both, since I did Project 52 last year and kept up with it even while moving.  Well no moving this years and I am just slacking.

Anyways… Action Jackson and I went to Michaels a while ago and we found these dinosaur feet stilts. They are great. They aren’t to high where I am constantly afraid that he is going to trip over something and break a neck. I do wish the rope handles were a little bit longer because it is hard for him to stand up straight. But he loves these things. I almost want to put felt or something on the bottom of them because they are super loud on tile floor.  But then if I did that he might really fall and break something.  These feet were about $4 I think. Really not that bad. They are made out of plastic so there probably is a weight limit. Jackson is only 34 lbs so I’m not to worried about him breaking them yet. But here is a few pictures from our 1st adventure with them.

He just started trying to get his balance and wasn’t too sure about them yet.

 

 

ROAR!!!!

 

I would say that this is a pretty happy face.

 

Target Practice

**Warning this works best when no wind is present**

 

Are you ready for your little ones to work on some hand and eye coordination?  Target practice is a great way to practice just that.  Don’t worry no guns (or water guns) are used.

What you need:

1. Spray Bottle (preferably one with a stream knob instead of spray)
2. Ping Pong balls
3. Golf Tees
4. Foam Pool Noodle

Step 1:

Cut about 2 feet off of your pool noodle. This will be your base for target practice.

 

Step 2:

In as straight of line as possible  line up your golf tees horizontally across the pool noodle.

 

 

Step 3:

Use two golf tees in the back  and on in the front, placed at a diagonal slant to insure the pool noodle doesn’t move.

 

 

Step 4:

Add your ping pong balls to the golf tees. **Remember this activity works best with no wind**

 

 

Step 5: 

Have your child sit at various lengths away from the target with the spray bottle. The farther away they are the harder the targets will be to hit.

 

 

 

 

Now enjoy!  This is perfect for summer time. Caution for the backlash of giving a kid a spray bottle, you might just get wet yourself 😉
